We are excited to announce that one of our NSW projects has recently taken out the Stormwater NSW Awards for Excellence in the ‘Integrated Stormwater Design’ Category. The innovation the project team used in the design is something we are so proud of and to be recognised by Stormwater NSW with the other equally amazing nominees is such an achievement.
Birrigan Iluka Beach is a master planned residential development for Stevens Group and the Birrigan Gargle Local Aboriginal Land Council, located in Iluka, NSW. The development was designed to ensure the existing natural characteristics and hydrological function of the site were maintained and enhanced, through the implementation of a state-of-the-art infiltration drainage system, coupled with a low impact earthworks design and retention of key vegetation.
The design of the stormwater network adopted within the Birrigan Iluka Beach development mimics the natural environment and is sympathetic to stormwater management techniques adopted within the Iluka vicinity and coastal townships. The concept is reliant upon the permeability of the underlying soil column and is simplistic in its design, making the system easy to maintain, aesthetically pleasing, and providing a system which is enduring in nature.
Jono Cuell our Project Manager and key designer commented the following:
“ I’ve not only enjoyed playing a part in this project, It’s been a privilege to watch our integrated stormwater design at Iluka come to fruition. Birrigan Iluka Beach was only possible because of the visionary approach of Stevens Group. the Birrigan Gargle Local Aboriginal Land Council and Ocean Park Consulting. This type of innovative stormwater project isn’t possible without a great team.”
We want to thank the following clients and consultants who all played and integral part in seeing this project come to life in such an amazing way that it did!
Thank you to the following (but not limited to) Stevens Group, the Birrigan Gargle Local Aboriginal Land Council, Ocean Park Consulting, Holloway Group, Byrns Lardner and Daracon.
