Burchills teamed up with BMD Constructions for Bundall Road Upgrade Stage 1, and continued to work with Georgiou Pty Ltd for Stage 2 and Stage 3 thereafter. The project will upgrade the existing road to 3 traffic lanes in each direction to accommodate existing and future traffic volumes through road & bridge widening. Burchills were responsible for pre-construction and mid-construction condition surveys of both residential and commercial properties. Burchills have compiled over 80 reports for the project to date, including inspections to assess damage claims from bridge piling works.
Boat Works Marina North & South
The development proposed the establishment of Marine Industry landuses across five (5) lots with a combined site area of 9.527ha site. The proposed landuses were to integrate with the existing marine industrial operations and consisted of the Hardstand areas for boat storage and maintenance, vehicle and trailer parking areas, boat building/maintenance sheds, associated marine industry facilities i.e. water and sand blasting facilities and pontoon structures attached to the waterfront of lots.
Ecological investigations included detailed marine plant surveys of both seagrass and mangrove communities, as well as management measures to reduce impacts on these marine plants. A Coastal Hazard Assessment was also undertaken assessing the development against the provisions of the State Planning Policy Assessment Benchmarks and State Development Assessment Provisions State Code 8: Coastal Development and Tidal Works.
248 Eggersdorf Road, Ormeau
Burchills Engineering Solutions were engaged by AVID Property Group (Formerly Villaworld) to complete an Ecological Site Assessment and extensive Rehabilitation Management Plan to inform the rehabilitation of a 10ha ecological corridor along the Pimpama River as part of a residential development at 248 Eggersdorf Road, Ormeau.
The corridor park will form part of a greater regional ecological corridor facilitating movement of fauna between hinterland and coastal habitat. The proposed development also provides protection of wetland habitat for the rare wallum froglet and the extensive revegetation will include planting of at least 5000 koala food trees.
248 Eggersdorf Road, Ormeau
Burchills were engaged by AVID Property Group (Formerly Villaworld) to provide a preliminary engineering and to be considered as part of their acquisition of land, to create and expand the proposed development in Eggersdorf. This analysis outlined the surrounding sites suitable for the expansion of the proposed development, relating to civil engineering design parameters and site constraints. The acquisition of number of land parcels resulted to 180 residential allotments. Burchills were engaged to complete the following:
Feasibility Analysis;
Conceptual Stormwater management Plan including
Regional Trunk Sewer Pump Station and Rising Main Detention Basins;
Preliminary designs & estimates;
Reginal Water and Sewer network Analysis;
Detailed Civil Design for OPW applications; and
Contract Administration & Supervision.
Stages 1 & 2 have been designed and OPW approval obtained. Construction to anticipated to commence in July 2021.Stage 3 is currently under design.
Business Case for Yawalpah Road Upgrade
Burchills Engineering Solutions were been appointed by the City of Gold Coast (The City) to prepare a Business Case for the future upgrading of Yawalpah Road, Pimpama.
Yawalpah Road forms the primary connection between the Pacific Motorway (M1) Pimpama Interchange (Exit 49), the emerging residential communities within Pimpama and the future Coomera Connector (Second M1). It crosses the Gold Coast Line of the Queensland Rail network via an overpass.
The original planning identified the Yawalpah Road classification as a future sub-arterial road and suggested that the road duplication from two to four lanes would be sufficient to cater for the anticipated travel demand. However, the previous road corridor study was completed prior to the announcement of upgrades to the Pacific Motorway (M1) Pimpama Interchange (Exit 49) and the proposed Coomera Connector. The Business Case tested the original planning recommendations against other options using forensic traffic modelling and considering the broader network operations. Given the project’s proximity to the existing and planned major state-controlled roads, the forensic traffic modelling analysis includes the Pacific Motorway (M1) Pimpama Interchange (Exit 49) upgrade works and construction of the Coomera Connector. The Business Case provided The City with a recommendation for the optimal configuration of the Yawalpah Road corridor to ensure appropriate Council Capital Investment.
Coplicks Footbridge, Tallebudgera
Burchills are currently engaged by the City of Gold Coast to provide specialist engineering services to support a footbridge upgrade in Tallebudgera. Burchills have been involved throughout the project from concept planning, through to detailed design.
We have undertaken site investigations, hydraulic study, civil and structural assessment, options analysis, construction costing, with the final deliverable being detailed design for the replacement of Coplick pedestrian bridge and associated shared path connection to an arterial road.
The bridge traverses the Tallebudgera Creek as Scotty Logan Lane, Tallebudgera Valley, and in 2017 the City determined that the structure had reached the end of its serviceable life and replacement was required. Our scope also covered bridge engineering services to support a footbridge upgrade option assessment and associated share path. Burchills undertook investigations, structural design concepts, options analysis, design costings, and a structural planning report for the replacement of Coplick pedestrian bridge. More recently we have continued onto Detailed Design of the bridge, shared path and approaches include scour protection.
