Burchills have been engaged by the City of Gold Coast (CoGC) to undertake the design development, detailed design and “Issue for Construction” drawings and construction documentation for the proposed roadworks and ancillary works for the proposed Teemangum street bridge.
The existing cross drainage culverts beneath Teemangum Street at Flat Road Creek consist of 10 No. 900mm high and 10 No. 450mm high reinforced concrete culverts are in poor condition with servere corrosion of he steel reinforcement and concrete spalling. The ‘Replacement of Culvert Over Flat Rock Creek at Teemangum Street Planning Report’ dated October 2016 was prepared by City of Gold Coast and identified a new replacement bridge as the preferred remediation method. Subsequently, the ‘Teemangum Street Culvert Replacement at Flat Rock Creek Concept Design Report’ was prepared to develop the concept design of the proposed bridge and undertake a multi-criteria assessment of the bridge option compared to replacement using culverts.
The current scope of works involves design development, detailed design and “Issue for Construction” drawings and construction documentation for the proposed roadworks and ancillary works including 12d geometric road design and creek longitudinal and cross-section design profiles, design integration of the creek, road, road reserve, bridge and park including retaining / revetment walls, drainage design and utility layouts and longitudinal sections (Energex, Telstra, potable water, APA Gas).
Some of the key aspects of this project to be considered were:
- Design integration creek, road, road reserve, bridge and park including retaining / revetment walls to ensure a thorough and robust design;
- Existing services relocations and provisions for Energex, Telstra. potable water and in particular APA Gas; and
Constructability and construction traffic management of the final design solution.
