Burchills have been engaged by Palm Lake Works to complete the design for the internal earthworks, stormwater drainage, stormwater treatment, water reticulation, gravity sewer reticulation, internal sewer pump stations, regional sewer pump station, sewer rising mains and roadworks.

The project is an over 50’s lifestyle village that provides 290 lots and recreational facilities located in Forster, NSW. This development has a manmade waterway called Dunns Creek travering the site. As part of the development the waterway was required to be realigned. Mid Coast Council are also completing upstream works which directs the waterway to the new realigned location. Liaison with Council has been critical in delivering the creek realignment portion of the project. Other major challenges included removal of Asbestos from existing uncontrolled fill, and dealing with a perched water table caused from higher than usual rainfall post tender but preconstruction.

Burchills Engineering Solutions were engaged by Avon Capital Estate to conduct civil engineering services design and contract administration of the civil construction of a five stage rural residential development located in Ipswich that consists of 96 acreage lots.

Burchills was responsible for:

• Preliminary design & estimates;
• Detailed civil design for Operational Works applications;
• Tendering for the construction;
• Construction supervision & coordination; and
• Contract administration.

The construction of the first stage of the development was commenced in late 2017 and the final stage of the development was completed in late 2020. The scope of a combined $6 million project that were delivered include:

• 30,000 cu.m of bulk earthworks;
• 25,000 sq.m of roadworks;
• 3,200 l.m of Stormwater drainage; and
• 3,300 l.m of portable watermain.

The project also included external road widening on Arthur Summerville Road.

Burchills were engaged by Walker Corporation to deliver the Civil Engineering for a major development.  The development included large-scale industrial allotments, industrial collector roads for B-double vehicles, trunk services infrastructure and vehicular bridge over existing railway.

Burchills was responsible for:

• Trunk civil infrastructure assessment and planning
• All civil works including bulk earthworks in excess of 970,000 cubic metres in the first 2 stages;
• Overall water supply and sewerage planning reports and schematics;
• Major regional drainage works;
• Flood storage assessments;
• Trunk industrial collector roads;
• Large-span vehicular bridge over railway, using “Super-T” girders;
• Major QDMR Intersection with Brisbane Road, including design for B-Double vehicles;
• Large regional sewer pump station. (4m dia. well);
• Assistance with master planning and major traffic routes analysis for overall development; and

Incorporation of on-road ‘rain-gardens’ and end of line bio-retention treatment devices within the stormwater drainage system.

Burchills were engaged by Design Worldwide Partnership on the behalf of the Brisbane Markets Limited to provide hydraulic engineering, modelling and planning services for various projects across the Brisbane Markets site at Sherwood Rd, Rocklea.

Works provided to date have included:

• The preparation of flood planning assessments for multiple buildings;
• The development of a hydraulic model using TUFLOW;
• The preparation of a hydraulic impact assessment to identify potential impacts that proposed development may have upon properties up / downstream of the site;

The provision of advice regarding design loads to be exerted upon buildings during flood events

Burchills Engineering Solutions were engaged to provide specialist engineering and environmental services for the Preliminary Approvals Material Change of Use (MCU) phase of the development proposal of the proposed redevelopment on Gooding Drive and Boowaggan Road, Merrimac. The proposed development is known as Green Heart Gardens.

The development proposal requires a maximum filling footprint to accommodate the 5,000 residential units and 8,000 m2 of commercial areas on flood free land. The footprint has been calculated to facilitate a floodplain storage balance with no net loss of flood storage up to the adopted Designated Flood Level for the site. The project will create over 50ha of rehabilitated wetland. TUFLOW, XP, MUSIC & 12D have been utilisied in the design process.

Burchills reports has been prepared to accompany and be considered as part of a Development Application to the Council of the City of Gold Coast (COGC).

This project is in Information Request Response phase and as such is confidential.

Burchills were engaged by Lewisland to complete the engineering works on one of the Gold Coast’s most well known shopping outlets, Harbour Town. The 25 hectare Harbour Town Shopping Centre lies at the northern end of the Gold Coast.

The shopping centre includes Australia’s first purpose-built outlet shopping precinct including convenience, service and retail stores; a 14 screen cinema; cafes; restaurants; medical and health facilities.

Burchills Engineering Solutions were responsible for:

• All civil works including bulk earthwork in excess of 300,000 cubic metres;
• Major regional drainage works;
• Numerous external DTMR intersections;
• 2950 car parking bays; and
• Pump station.

Burchills were engaged by Ocean Park Consulting Pty Limited on the behalf of Stevens Commercial Pty Limited to prepare a provide civil and stormwater engineering services for a residential subdivision at Hickey Street, Iluka.

Burchills developed a stormwater masterplan for the proposed development which provided for the treatment of stormwater runoff and detention of runoff discharging from the development. Civil design, reporting and earthworks modelling (12d) were also undertaken by Burchills for the development.

Additional services have also been provided over the duration of the project including:

Preparation of tender documentation.

Narangba Heights Estate is a residential development comprising of over 1,000 lots in the suburb of Narangba within the Moreton Bay Regional Council. Burchills Engineering Solutions was invited by the developer manager of Oxmar Properties to review the site grading for the balance of the development. Subsequently via innovative design approaches Burchills has undertaken detailed design & documentation.

Burchills Engineering Solutions proposed an alternate layout that was more sympathetic with the terrain and had the following characteristics:

• Linear road networked with regular rectangular allotments grouped into precincts;
• Each precinct generally contains a single looped residential access road connecting to a single connector road;
• Connector road generally aligned parallel with contours and adjacent proposed drainage reserve;
• Residential access road generally aligned perpendicular to contours;
• Grade of residential access road limited to avoid the need for side retaining walls;
• Standardised allotment profile between residential access roads with single step retaining wall on rear allotment boundary; and
• All allotments fall to the road to avoid the need for inter-allotment drainage and sewerage.

A 3m high retaining wall is proposed on the rear allotment boundaries to allow the entire balance area to be developed up to the southern property boundary. Maintaining a 2m high retaining wall will result in the loss of allotments on the southern property boundary to accommodate a larger batter.

The proposed layout provides the maximum level area for the allotments whilst minimising the length of roads and civil services. The proposed linear layout provides an extra 327 allotments compared to the original non-linear layout.
