Condition Surveys

Stage One of the Project comprises a 13km light rail system between the new Gold Coast University Hospital and Broadbeach, the construction value was $700m+. Stage Two included another 6km through to Helensvale.

Burchills Engineering Solutions undertook the condition surveys on properties and general infrastructure within the vicinity of construction works for the Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 1 & 2.

The condition assessments and reports involved data collection of asset information for more than 1000 sites including properties and general infrastructure assets including roads and civil infrastructure. Burchills Engineering Solutions provided the D&C contractors a benchmark for further assessment, should a claim be made against the Contractors due to damaged or defective property.

Burchills Engineering Solutions also undertook the condition surveys on properties within the vicinity of construction works for the Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 2 Project.

The reports provided by Burchills Engineering Solutions provided CPB a benchmark for further assessment, should a claim be made against CPB Contractors due to damaged or defective property.

Burchills were engaged to undertake pre-construction condition surveys of commercial properties as part of the Ipswich Motorway Upgrade: Rocklea to Darra Stage 1 for Bielby Holdings Pty Ltd.  Stage 1 covers a 3km section of the eastern end of the Ipswich Motorway between Granard Road, Rocklea to Oxley Road, Oxley.  Upgrade works include widening the motorway to include 6 lanes, 7 new bridges, new service road connections and traffic signals. Properties within 40m to 60m of the new Ipswich Motorway alignment were mapped and assessed by Burchills to outline pre-construction inspection areas.  Areas of influence have included both hardstand and buildings in part. Over 50 properties were inspected.

Burchills were engaged to undertake pre-construction condition surveys of residential and commercial properties as part of the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing Project, in Queensland, for Nexus Delivery.  The 41km bypass route will travel from the Warrego Highway at Helidon Spa to the Gore Highway at Athol via Charlton, taking heavy vehicle traffic away from the center of Toowoomba.

Burchills compiled pre-construction reports for approximately 117 properties prior to works commencing. This included both commercial and residential properties.  Burchills were requested to provide a mid-construction report to assess damage claims for a residential property.

Burchills also provided Level 2 bridge inspections associated with the works. The assessments and reports involved data collection of asset information for more than 600 sites including properties and general infrastructure assets including roads and civil infrastructure.

Burchills were engaged by Lendlease Engineering to undertake pre and post construction surveys for M1M3 upgrade project. 

The Pacific Motorway Upgrade – M1/M3/Gateway Merge Project scope includes:

• Utilising the existing pavement to provide four lanes on the Pacific Motorway under the Gateway Motorway (M2) Overpass, merging back to three lanes prior to the Gateway Motorway and Pacific Motorway merge.
• A concrete barrier between the north and south bound carriageways with pavement widening on southbound carriageway to provide for the five lane cross section from the Gateway Motorway merge to Rochedale Road – approximately 2.5 kilometres.

Replacing the Underwood Road overpass with a new bridge to accommodate five general traffic lanes in both directions (southbound and northbound carriageways) and a new bus on ramp and an access road from School Road under the bridge.

Burchills teamed up with BMD Constructions for Bundall Road Upgrade Stage 1, and continued to work with Georgiou Pty Ltd for Stage 2 and Stage 3 thereafter.  The project will upgrade the existing road to 3 traffic lanes in each direction to accommodate existing and future traffic volumes through road & bridge widening. Burchills were responsible for pre-construction and mid-construction condition surveys of both residential and commercial properties.  Burchills have compiled over 80 reports for the project to date, including inspections to assess damage claims from bridge piling works.
